There is nothing like fasting

 There is nothing like fasting.

The Prophet SAW said, 

"Allah said, "Every good deed of sons of Adam is for himself except fasting; it is for Me and I shall reward (he fasting person) for it." Verily, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk."

What a wonderful thing when Allah claimed something and said "it's for Me". It is indeed for Allah. Like everything else, it should for Allah only. And yet it is so humble of Allah to say "fasting is for Me". It's wonderful to feel this.

Fasting (shaum) is indeed different with any other rituals like shalat, hajj or zakat. Fasting is like "doing nothing". We emptied ourselves to be able to become His vessels. Ready to be poured upon to. Hopefully He uses us. And there is no greater honor than that. To be used by Him.
